HONORS PROJECT

 Presidential Project

Due Date is February 8, 2010

This Project is mandatory for Honors students and is available to comprehensive students as extra credit.  Students will have a president ASSIGNED to them, do not just pick the President you want.

Objective:  Create a campaign poster and a presidential pamphlet of the president that has been assigned to you.

Presidential Pamphlet:

Create a presidential pamphlet that states background information about the candidate, political beliefs, and accomplishments in office.  Include things such as personal information, political party, and their stances on the issues of the day.

The pamphlet should include pictures and be typed.  Use programs such a Microsoft word’s or Microsoft publisher’s pamphlet templates.

The sheet of paper should be divided into 3 sections (trifold).  There will be a total of “6 pages” when you include both sides of the sheet of paper.

Your pamphlet will be graded based on the accuracy of facts, neatness, and effort.  The pamphlet will be worth 50 points.

Examples of a quality pamphlet can be found at: http://www.trumanlibrary.org/whistlestop/activities/pamphlets/trumanslife_1.htm

Presidential Campaign Poster:

Create a campaign poster of your assigned president.  The poster should be a regular poster board size.  It should include the name of your president, some visuals, and be compelling to make people want to vote for your candidate.  Your poster should also contain an appropriate campaign slogan.

Your poster will be graded on accuracy of information and neatness.  Sloppy work will result in a lowered grade.

Reference sheet:

Lastly, you must include a type reference sheet that cites your sources you used in your pamphlet.  Exclusion of this reference sheet will result in 20% off the total grade.
